Romanian wines are the most pure expression of the Romanian spirit rising between the freezing immensity of the Russian Vodka and the oceans of beer from the German influences in the west. The art of producing wine is taken to the highest levels through love and tradition from harvesting the noble grapes through the winemaking process with its roots in the ancient times.

As the legend has it, Dionysus, the God of wine, was born in the northern part of Thracia, north of the Danube River. This region was named Dacia Felix (Happy Dacia) after it was conquered by the Romans in 106 A.D. Grapes were one of the riches of this land. Centuries prior to the Roman occupation, Dacia had a well-established wine culture. On the land of former Dacia, a new people evolved, and a new country appeared, but the grape cultivation and wine making was taught from generation to generation.

Even though there is little literature as yet that presents Romania as a wine-producing force, economic reports such as those used by the Administrations of North America illustrate the fact that Romania has the sixth best wine-producing area in Europe and the world - and is still the tenth largest producer in the world.

What evidence supports the above statements?
• A tremendous wine-producing basin of 228,942 ha.
• A perfect climate for viticulture.
• Wine-producing areas allowing the development of a diversified variety.

Specific rare wines such as Busuioaca de Bohotin - dating as far back as 2,000 years through the Greek connection - and postphiloxeric wines (of French origin) processed in the domestic manner, are in our cellars awaiting the both connoisseurs and the casual wine enjoying public.

For the first time we have the pleasure to offer the rightful worldwide exposure well deserved by the best kept secret of European wine making: the ancient treasure of the Romanian wines. Here it is, unveiled for you in the pages of the Romvin Import web site.
